The use of private jets in the United States has grown to two-thirds of the global market for luxury air travel, as the number of high net worth individuals in the world's biggest economy increases steadily. The country represents some 66 percent of global deliveries in the private jet market as of the end of the third quarter, chief executive and president of Embraer Executive Jets, Marco Tulio Pellegrini said. This is up from around 45 percent of market share before 2008 and low growth in the years following, Pellegrini said. The U.S. has taken on more market share steadily in the last two years as emerging markets have come under pressure. A clampdown on corruption in China has seriously damaged the luxury goods and service mark...

The rich kids of Beijing: Super-wealthy daughters of Chinese billionaires flaunt trips on private jets, £5,000 champagne bills and £16,000 rings online (despite the government telling them not to) Rich 'fuerdai' kids of China continue to flaunt wealth on social media Chinese president has attempted to crack down on ostentatious bragging Earlier this month banned rich kids from reality TV shows But youngsters continue to post images on yachts and private jets They drive super cars, think nothing of spending hundreds of thousands in a single night and their displays of wealth are so outrageous that China's president has even taken steps to rein them in. President Xi Jinping has attempted to crack down on ostentatious bragging by young 'fuerdai', which translates as 'rich second generation', with measures such as introducing a ban on wealthy kids appearing on reality TV shows earlier this month. But, his efforts may be going to waste if the continued flaunting of wealth on social media is anything to go by. Moneyed young women are still showing off their fast cars, designer clothes and trips on private jets on Instagram. Sian_vivi_x, 21, is just one youngster who continues to document her enviable lifestyle for her 70,500 Instagram followers. As well as sharing pictures sipping champagne with her friends on yachts and travelling by private jet, she thinks nothing of dropping $60,000 on 12 bottles of Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque while partying in Macau. It's likely to be Hong Kong dollars, accepted in Macau, worth £5,350. She also recently shared an image of a bucket full of Dom Perignon bottles saying: 'Life is too short for s*** champagne. Cheers my lovies.' Meanwhile Weymi Cho, 21, has advised her 18,100 followers on Instagram that it's unwise to do an internship at the mall. The accompanying photo shows a haul of designer gear by Burberry, Kenzo, Agent Provocateur and Dior. She also posted about needing to buy another wardrobe to fit all her designer gear and a photo in a Ferarri 488 at a luxury car dealer in Vancouver where she currently lives. Christina Lee no doubt caused envy among her followers with a snap of her and two pals travelling by private jet. She also shared another on a yacht in which a chef appeared to be whipping up some fine cuisine in the background. She simply captioned the image: 'White Party' as all of the guests were wearing matching outfits. And she's also showed off an impressive collection of Chanel and Hermes bags. When vickybabyswl treated herself to silver studded Louboutin shoes, she naturally uploaded them for her 803,000 followers to admire - as well as a selfie after a Saint Laurent shopping spree. 'OMG so regret we came out with this car,' she wrote. 'So packed. Another shopping day.' As well as travelling first class she has a penchant for jewellery, sharing images of bling by Chopard and Cartier. Alongside an image of a Cartier Panther ring, costing around £16,000, she wrote: 'Awwwww surprises after lunch.' A.l.a.l also enjoys a spot of shopping and beomaned the fact she'd not brought a car with a bigger boot to hold all her bags after a spree at designer boutiques, including Dior and Valentino. Xiaooyii took things a step even further, showing off a collection of 17 Hermes bags ranging from totes to clutches to her 13,500 followers. She also has a fondness for Louis Vuitton monogrammed luggage. However, such flaunting of wealth is unlikely to go down well with the average person in China.

The chinese military unvield the Y-20 transport aircraft that can be seen as a new rival the the US Air Force C-17 transport aircraft. The Xian Y-20 (Chinese: 运-20) is a large military transport aircraft. The project is being developed by Xi'an Aircraft Industrial Corporation and was officially launched in 2006.[2] The official codename of the aircraft is Kunpeng (Chinese: 鲲鹏).[3] after the mythical bird of ancient China that can fly for thousands of kilometres.[4] However, within the Chinese aviation industry itself, the aircraft is more commonly known by its nickname Fat Girl (Chinese: 胖妞), because its wide fuselage in comparison to other Chinese aircraft previously developed in China.[5] Design and Development[edit] The Y-20's general designer is Tang Changhong (Chinese: 唐长红),[6] (the general designer of Xian JH-7), and the deputy general designer is Guo Zhaodian (Chinese: 郭兆电).[5] The Y-20 uses components made of composite materials.[7] The composites are produced in China, whereas in the past they had to be imported.[8] The Y-20's cabin incorporates flame-retardant composites developed by the 703 Institute of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC). The 703 Institute was created in March 2009 with development taking three years. The performance of the composites is reportedly comparable to those that fulfill FAR Part 25.835. The 703 Institute achieved another milestone by establishing a comprehensive Chinese evaluation and certification system for aircraft composite materials based on international standards.[9] The Y-20 is the first cargo aircraft to use 3-D printing technology to speed up its development and to lower its manufacturing cost.[10] Model-based definition (MBD) is also used, and it's the 3rd aircraft to utilize MBD technology in the world, after Boeing 787 (2005) and Airbus A380 (2007).[11] A project team to implement MBD for Y-20 program was formally formed in October 2009, and after the initial success in application on the main landing gear, MBD application was expanded to the entire aircraft and became mandatory for all contractors and sub contractors of the Y-20 program.[11] The implementation of MBD was initially met with strong resistance, with only a third of suppliers agreed to implement MBD, but the general designer of Y-20 declared those who refuse to do so will be banned from participating in Y-20 program, thus forcing everyone to comply, resulting in increase in productivity.[11] The implementation of MBD greatly shortened the time required, for example, without MBD, installation of wings takes a month or two, but with MBD adopted, the time is drastically shortened to just a few hours, and in general, the design work reduced by 40%, preparation for production reduced by 75%, and manufacturing cycle reduced by 30%.[11] In addition to 3-D printing, Y-20 is also the first aircraft in China adopting associative design technology (ADT) in its development, the second aircraft to do so in the world, after Boeing 787.[11] Headed by the deputy general designer of structural design, Mr. Feng Jun (冯军), the initial attempt to implement ADT actually failed after two months spent on application on the nose section. It was only after the second attempt that took another three months on the application on wings didADT became successful.[11] The adaptation of ADT greatly shortened the development time by at least eight months, and modification of wing design that previously took a week is shortened to half a day.[11] Cargo is loaded through a large aft ramp that accommodates rolling stock. The Y-20 incorporates a shoulder wing, T-tail, rear cargo-loading assembly and heavy-duty retractable landing gear, consists of three rows, with a pair of wheels for each row, totaling six wheels for each side. The structural test was completed in 194 days as opposed to the 300 days originally planned, thanks to the successful development and application of an automated structural strength analysis system.[11] In comparison, similar work for Xian JH-7 took a year.[11] According to the deputy general designer, the shortest take-off distance of Y-20 is 600 to 700 meters.[5] Y-20 incorporates a total of four LCD EFIS, and the development of EFIS for Y-20 utilizes virtual reality via helmet mounted display.[5] Eight types of different relays used on Y-20 are developed by Guilin Aerospace Co., Ltd. a wholly own subsidiary of China Tri-River Aerospace Group Co., Ltd.(中国三江航天集团), which is also known as the 9th Academy of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC).[9] It was reported that the Y-20 started ground testing from December 2012, including runway taxi tests.[12][13][14][15] The aircraft made its maiden flight lasting one hour on January 26, 2013.[16][17][18] During landing in first flight, it was reported that the Y-20 prototype bounced once before finally settling on runway

It promises to be 100 times quieter than the Concorde with a range of over 4000 nautical miles and a top speed of Mach 1.8, or 1,188 miles per hour. To put this in context – a typical 9.5 hour flight from Seattle to Tokyo in a commercial aircraft would be reduced to under five hours in the QSST. Its patented design makes it possible to fly over populated continental areas with a sonic signature of just 65 DMA, or little louder than the interior of a car traveling at 70mph. This is achieved through a combination of the aerodynamic shaping of the ‘v-tail’ and state-of-the-art engine design to suppress takeoff and landing noise. It will also meet or exceed emission standards with clean-burning engines designed to reduce emissions during a high-altitude cruise. Intended primarily for government and business use, the QSST compares favorably to current commercial and business jets, accommodating up to 12 passengers in executive level comfort. Though there is still a lot of work to be done at the design stage, SAI is confident that once an international consortium is confirmed to build the aircraft it’ll be ready for flight by 2018, and deliverable to customers by 2020.

It would be quite an understatement to say that China has undergone significant changes in the past decade. There was once a time when bicycles far outnumbered cars on the streets of China' s major cities, and the Chinese countryside was filled with lush and green rice paddies. Fast-forward to 2013, and my, how things have changed. I was at China' s leading yacht and private jet show to find out more about China' s burgeoning luxury market.

These jets don't give you much change from $100 Million! A clampdown on corruption in China has seriously damaged the luxury goods and service market there. "Every year, we expect a better year, but 2015 will probably be similar to 2014 deliveries. (In) 2016 in our provisional forecast there will be slight growth. But we don't see the possibility of a major transformation of the market size. What we see today is the U.S. playing a very important role in deliveries," Pellegrini said, speaking at a press conference at the Dubai Airshow. Brazilian plane maker Embraer, now the third largest in the world based on deliveries, produces commercial, military and agricultural aircraft as well as executive business travel aircraft. The group announced during the airshow that Emirates had signed up to order five Phenom 100 business jets, with an option for a further five for use in its flight training academy. This follows Etihad's firm order of four models of the plane in June this year. Embraer planes sell for anywhere between $4 million and $55 million at list price, depending on size and model. The aircraft maker said it has a 10 percent market share in the Middle East private jet market, but the pricing of second hand jets at big discounts to brand new planes in the region and in Europe has been tough on business. One in ten business aircraft in the Middle East is up for sale according to data published by aircraft charter firm Gama Aviation on Monday, with the bulk on offer in Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). But long-term, the company expect the number of business aircraft operating in the Middle East to rise. "The Middle East's landmass is around 90 percent of that of the U.S., and it has a population of 351 million people – some 32 million more than the U.S. However, the States has over 22,000 more business aircraft, and this shows the huge potential for the Middle East business jet market," Gama Aviation's managing director for the region, Martin Ringrose said. Pelligrini said looking at the industry as a whole, the private jet market has seen slight recovery in the last two years. "We expect this recovery will continue but overall it will be the same number of planes delivered worldwide as we had in 2014. Slightly higher, but still far from the peak of 2008," he added.
